Hello dear hive community, first of all I hope you had a nice weekend and were also able to enjoy your day as well! Today I would like to present you a plant that I photographed in the forest some time ago.
The plant that bears the common name Spotted henbit and botanically Lamium maculatum can be seen here and the name is derived from the Greek word lamos. Origin is Europe as well as Asia and typical places where the plant can be found are forests or roadsides. The flowering period starts from about March and the location should be sunny or semi-shaded, the soil moist and rich in nutrients.
Also the color of the flower convinces with a strong pink look and in addition, Lamium maculatum is very insect friendly and is particularly often visited by bees. Another property is the hardy and frost-resistant characteristic and easily survives cool days.
Spotted henbit also finds its place in the medical field and can be used in many ways against various diseases. The main areas of application are respiratory diseases, stomach pain but also can have a positive effect on the skin, it is also very useful for detoxification. Mainly the flowers are used, which are rich in various active ingredients such as tannins, lamalbid and essential oils. As always, it is important to note that when using medicine, you should always ask your doctor about the correct application and dosage!
Thanks for the visit and I hope you like my new Post! I used my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 and 55-210 mm lens to take these pictures.
