This will be an irregular series of posts - in these posts I'm going to look back into my archive to see what photos I took this day in previous years
This 'Not from Today' but it is from the 1st of September
**2002 **- From the original 'photo a day project, in fact this might have been within the first few weeks of it - this photo is actually taken on film (with a Canon Ae-1 program) and then scanned, seems like a lot of hard work. And here is what I wrote at the
And here is what I wrote at the time:
Today was the first day of spring and not before time. You see I love the sun, and I love spring and summer. I feel like it has been winter forever, somehow I think I missed last summer a together. Now there is but three months to go.
This spring is going to be filled with Frisbees, and beer gardens, and race meetings and barbeques – I will not miss another season
**2003 **- A year later and still doing the 'Photo a day' thing now with a very blurry digital camera. This by the way was a piece of public art on a wall in the Albert Park F1 Grand Prix track, about 6 month earlier I would have watched David Couthard win there.
and I wrote this at the time:
“You know I always wanted my dog to be in my wedding party.”
“But you don’t own a dog.”
“I know, that’s why I’m not married.”
**2014 **- North Melbourne, this time a mobile phone (Sony Xperia Z2) was the shooting device.
And my thoughts are the time:
How astounding to spend the first day of spring with absolutely nothing to do, or rather with a lot to do but no means in which to do it
2015 - I was running a blog called 12 years gone which revisited some of the old, old photos and forced me to take a shot each day - this time it's a Fujifilm X10 camera used. And me ask questions that I clearly will never know the answer to
“What if I took a photo but never showed it to anyone, ever?”
2018 - We are out of blog land now so I have to remember where, when and why I took photos. This is at Docklands in Melbourne, I have a feeling I was on some sort of Fujifilm photowalk promo event, I also have the feeling it was so cold that I ended up not finishing it and instead went to watch some Ice Hockey.
2019 - We aren't having much luck with weather, I remember this day I was keen to get outside and take photos, I was on my electric scooter, before they were cool, again down at Docklands, and it started pouring with rain, I'm sheltering under a stadium roof and these poor people were running through the rain.
2021 - Thanks Christ it's sunny again, sunset looking west from my balcony. I'm amazed looking back on this how much the feeling is the same, so sick of a long cold winter, and desperate for a bit of actual sun
And that my friends was my life on the INSERT DATE but not from today
