MTG Alters/Alternování MTG

Everyone probably knows the card game Magic the Gathering. I decided to go back some time ago after 15 years. Rather to the position of a collector, as I don't have much time to play anymore, unfortunately. I would like to share with you my discovery from about a year ago.

Patrně každý zná karetní hru Magic the Gathering. Rozhodl jsem se před časem po 15ti letech vrátit. Spíše do pozice sběratele, jelikož na hraní již nemám bohužel moc času. Chtěl bych se s Vámi podělit o svůj asi tak rok starý objev.

It refers to a society of artists that deals with card alternation. I spent a few days poring over the amazing and often hilarious illustrations. Strip mines with the Millennium Falcon - a scene straight out of Star Wars, different variations of Sol Ring based on the Lord of the Ring, or panoramic lands folded by stacking them side by side.

Týká se spolku umělců, který se zabývá alternováním karet. Pár dnů jsem se přehraboval úžasnými a mnohdy vtipnými ilustracemi. Strip mine s Milenium Falconem - scéna jako vystřižená z hvězdných válek, různé variace Sol Ring na motivy pána prsten, nebo panoramatické landy, které se složili poskládáním vedle sebe.

But what took my breath away were the debossed fullart foil lands from Kamigawa edition: Neon Dynasty. When I saw them, I had to have them.

Ale co mi vyrazilo dech byly debosované fullart foil lands z edice Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Když jsem je viděl, musel jsem je mít.

I spent a few days looking for and ordering embossing kits. Tried different stylus diameters, substrate surfaces and techniques. I threw away a few failed pieces, but the satisfactory results didn't take long to come. I have a construction degree, have spent hundreds of hours on drawings, and have a relatively practiced hand. Eventually I started to enjoy it and I'm currently taking this activity as a kind of anti-stress coloring book. Each card takes me on average 4-6 hours and requires 100% focus.

Pár dní jsem hledal a objednával embosovací sady. Zkoušel různé průměry rydel, povrchy podkladu a techniky. Pár nepovedených kousků jsem vyhodil, ale uspokojivé výsledky na sebe nenechaly dlouho čekat. Mám stavebni průmyslovku, strávil jsem stovky hodin nad výkresy a mám relativně vypsanou ruku. Časem mě to začalo i bavit a beru tuto činnost momentálně jako takové anti-stres omalovánky. Každá karta mi zabere v průměru 4-6 hodin a vyžaduje 100% focus.

Dominaria United full-art foil Mountain was the first land from this edition that I tried. I had to talk myself into doing the inside of the red logo as well, but I think it was worth it.

Dominaria United full-art foil Mountain byl první land z této edice, který jsem zkoušel. Musel jsem se přemlouvat, aby jsem udělal i vnitřek červeného loga, ale myslím, že to za to stálo.

The Dominaria United full-art foil island was probably the most complex. Especially finding the transitions of the blue color and the hex wrapping.

Dominaria United full-art foil Plain. At first glance the simplest, but the appearance disappointed me and you can notice two flaws at the bottom of the card. Even a slight 0.5mm variation stands out.
