I think that I breathe as you described above. I know that taking a deep and long breath makes us feel relaxed, especially before an exciting event of our life. Once I tried it and it worked well.

The hard part, I've found, is remembering to do this when we need to. After 20+ years it's finally the first thing that comes to mind when I find myself in a stressed out or agitated state of mind.
