What a fine day to be alive.
I visited the beer shop of old that I used to frequent. The one that is owned by the Bear Man. He was in fine form. Full of banter and chat and not once did he try and pin me down for a hard shagging which is always a plus in my book.
So I escaped with an untarnished back-pastry and some fine beers for the tasting.
But what delights did I purchase?
Well, it was a pleasant summer's day so I thought some light beers would be apt. The first, In The Pines looked like a proper champ. A double dry hopped mother fucker of a bastard rocking in at 7 plus percent. As I said to the Russian guy who works in the local car wash. Take that ya filthy bandit!
Which, leads me of course on to the other beer I purchased. This one in honour of all the depressive galumph's out there. That's right, The Black Dog, or as this one is called. El Perro Negro. A gluten free pilsner with a twist of Sevile Orange. Well poke my Kumquat and call me Martha, it sounds as if it could be very promising.
But we won't get anywhere just talking shit. To the drinking!!!
In The Pines. Of course the first thing I though of when I saw the name was the Sopranos where Paulie and Christopher are hunting down some bad Russkie gangsters. Russians, again!? Is there a theme here?
But it is nothing to do with blood and death in the snow and everything to do with actual pines! This one is an IPA with pine resin and tropical fruit.
Fuck it. I'm in. To the tasting!!
Hot damn, look at the colour! It is a gorgeous hazy mango colour like a Venusian Sunset. It looks top donk and makes me want to get my keks off and dive in for a ball tumbling paddle. 7.4% too, next door's cat had better watch out. I might be getting a bit frisky later!
Fucking hell, this is lovely. It is as dry as Prince Andrew's neck when he is making sweet sweet love but in a good way. It has a definite piney twang like retsina sipped high up on the Greek hills. There is a sweetness of course. Apricots or some such twee flavour but it balances out the pine and dry hop meaning that this face-cutting felon of a beer scores a massive 9/10 BOOMS!

Well lets continue. Next up we have the funky looking El Perro Negro.
I love that can. Lok at that dog, it is like a bull that thinks it is a dog sitting on a melon. Fucking dogs, crazy bastards!
Hmmm, I am a tad disappointed by that colour. Look, it is like that awful fizzy piss 'champagne' they serve at poor peoples weddings. Weak and... well, pissy looking. Oh well...

Flaming breast milk Batman, this is honking?! What is it?! It is like nothing. An absence of anything. Slightly fizzy. Slightly lame. It's like a man in a grey suit. Like a lady wearing shaper underwear. It has lured me in and given me nothing! NOTHING! 3/10 BOOMS and that only for the funky can and name.
Well, that was like riding an old horse and I ain't talking about saddles and spurs!
I am off to drink more of the first and less of the second!

A Russian bar opened in Glasgow some time ago and it was called Stavka. It was a really cool place and it sold lots of different types of Baltika. We drank them because it was different. It was a bit rough to be honest but I loved the glasses!! I had to steal a couple :OD

Yes indeed. Iwas walking past the beer shop and saw that it was actually open. I had the kids with me and everything and decided that I couldn't pass it up. Boom. It was like stepping back in time before all this madness.

I have had a Pina Coladas beer, I think I thought it would be rubbish but it was actually very good. I'm a socket for that kind of thing.
