Hi girls,
You know how to come up with fun questions every time! This week again it is fun to check in for your questions. Every week The Ladies of Hive Contest is a surprise, and it makes a person think.
For this week, we want to know:
1️⃣ What is your favorite musical instrument and why? Do you know how to play it? If not, do you think there are limits to learning to play?
And/or
2️⃣ Death is an uncommon topic of conversation, but remembering death makes us appreciate life. If this was your last birthday, how would you like to celebrate it and why?
Here we go. Let's see if I can come up with an answer to this interesting questions
Question 1.
My favorite musical instrument? I don't have 1 favorite instrument, but a few .. Starting with the Guitar! I find that simply a wonderful instrument. But it's a very difficult instrument to play well. For what I know, you really have to develop calluses on your fingers to hold the strings well against the sound box. Nevertheless, I enjoy it intensely if someone can play this well. Like Mark Knofler played his guitar in the Sultans or Swing. I can also really enjoy good bass guitar parts, for example John Entwistle, but also a rock band with a Dutch touch Van Halen with bassist Michael Anthony.
Play the drums, baby!
In addition, I also find the drums irresistibly beautiful, a good drum part such as the famous (in the Netherlands) Cesar Zuiderwijk of the Dutch band Golden Earring. But I also think the leading drums in the song Little Drummerboy are extremely beautiful. Every time when I listen to this song in the version in which I liked it best, by choir Schalmei in the midnight mass at Christmas, it still makes me cry and I get goosebumps all over my body.
I can play very well!
Do I play an instrument myself, yes, the air guitar and drums, and let me assure you that I can play those two very well! But further than pretending to play an instrument ... Uhm nope! A real instrument unfortunately not. Although I did have a number of lessons in drumming at a school (where I attended for half a year).
Question 2. If this were my last birthday, how would I celebrate it and why?
This is really a very difficult question, because you would rather not think about such a thing, I love life too much for that, despite all the setbacks. But if I had to think about it I think that I would like to celebrate my last birthday with everyone who meant or has meant something to me in my life.
This would be at one of my favorite places ever. On the beach with lots of fun, music, my taste is very broad, but with almost no Dutch music. Well, maybe a little. But again, not what you might have expected. If I wanted Dutch music on my last birthday, it must be from a Dutch so-called Farmers Rock band. They go by the name "Normaal".
Soft Rock, drinks, beach and ...
Nice rock music has my preference, not the real heavy metal, but more the softer rock. Drinks may be served, but preferably not so much that people get drunk, because I really hate that, and just enjoy what I hope is about 25 degrees, nice sunshine and end the evening with a super BBQ on the beach. We don't have to hope to see dolphins in our small country, so they are present through posters.
Peacefully leaving
On such a birthday, where everyone was having a good time, I would quietly and secretly leave for the other side. As the sun went down into the sea. I would close my eyes and leave peacefully to the other side. To my parents and other relatives who had all left the earth before me. I would start my journey knowing I will see Micky there again. He will be there and waiting for me. And since I hope this day is far from coming, I know I'll see Gentle again then too. It's not the most pleasant subject for me to think about for a long time ... but at the same time it's a part of life. And what has already been said, just by thinking about death you may appreciate life all the more.
For the time being I am happy that I can still enjoy life despite all the setbacks. And I hope to be able to do that for a long time to come.
Thank you again Ladies for such great questions. And thank you for reading my blog!
Learning how to play the guitar can be really hard especially placing your fingers on the strings and bringing the best tune of a song it. Those who can play it well are great and I love it too when someone plays it for me while I sing along to it.
It made me remember when my Dad was playing the guitar, his children including myself would surround him while we bring the vibe with songs to match what he was playing. We were always filled with the spirit then and a beautiful moment.
I love someone who knows how to play the drums too. If one is good at it, I am good to go too.
the guitar and the drums are very cool instruments, especially in rock. Also, enjoy a birthday on the beach with your loved ones. It seems like a good idea to me. Thank you for your participation in the contest
