I would love to be in a position to be able to homeschool my Jack. For now, it is not possible financially but I am hoping and praying that we can get him into the Autism attachment unit at the same High School as Oli (our eldest for those who may be reading this comment and not know). He would still attend all classes with his peers but have the support of a 1-2-1 if needed and have the option to escape to the unit for quiet learning if he needed it. We have to apply for that by May next year, 5 months ahead of normal high school applications. I am also going to look into additional tutoring for him - but look for something specialised... tutors experienced in supporting children with special needs... especially for subjects like maths and English... just somebody who potentially has the ability to break through and provide him with the connection that he needs to understand the concepts in a way that his brain is able to do. I will see if there are any programs that I can use myself too at home, because I may not be able to homeschool fully...but perhaps between Brett and I, we can just pick up just the key subjects that will support all other subjects, and work with him on those. It has to be better than doing nothing. And now that he is focussing more in class, this may be something that we can reintroduce over the next year or two - homework. For some time, he has not had to do homework as teachers agreed with us that him being on board at school... was enough for his brain... and he needed the time at home to be free of the demands of school.
yeah... we just have to take on each new challenge as it presents itself. We have been blessed with a school leadership team that do their best to upskill on the tightest of budgets. High school tears? I've been crying since pre-school with him... !LOLZ and yep pretty sure it ain't gonna stop as he gets older. It's one helluva life, right? But the rewards are immeasurable. Love you too! !LUV

Homeschooling came with a lot of challenges too - so I can't say it was all roses and rainbows hahahahaha
In high school there were a lot of tears - mine and his hahahahaha
but I was still glad for it!!
and remember... each journey is unique! hehehe if God has him in this school for now and he's thriving - WONDERFUL!!!
That is what is most important - that its working well for your family and allowing him the ability to flourish!!!
love you my sis
