In today's video, I will be going through some of the upgrades I had performed as part of the changes to my Hive and Avalon infrastructure that I had to make late last year for cost reduction purposes and improved decentralization.
This is to demonstrate how you can run your own Hive API node at home and have something you fully own and control with minimal cost. The same also applies to Avalon.

Great work!
I've been advocating strongly for running Hive full nodes at home on hardware you own.
You can see the post and robust debate here: https://peakd.com/witness/@apshamilton/hive-api-node-for-under-usd750-hive-can-scale-at-very-low-cost
@chrisrice is also running a campaign to support witnesses running nodes on their owned hardware.
Interesting, will check that out
Good info but what are the incentives for running an API node?
There aren't any monetary rewards for running API nodes as they do not produce blocks, but by running your own node you fully validate every transaction since the genesis block without trusting a third party API node. Depending on your setup it can also provide better performance than public nodes due to lighter traffic on your own node.
One could never know a public node could return false data like this.
Congratulations @techcoderx! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
