Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
I´m excited to share some nice fresh pictures with you again after a while. Last weekend, we took advantage of the beautiful sunny (yet not too hot weather) to go for a little hike here in Prague, Czech Republic. The destination that we headed to is known as the Prokop Valley (or Prokopské Údolí in the local language) and it´s a large nature reserve located in the southwestern part of the city.
Covered with a number of nice and well-maintained hiking trails and paths, the valley is known for a variety of very interesting rock formations made of limestone, slates, volcanic basalt, travertine, sandstone and other natural materials, making the area a real geomorphological hotspot.
Stretching over a total area of more than 170 hectares, the Prokop Valley is also valued for its rich fauna and flora. When roaming around the lush forests here, you can easily forget that you are in fact just a few kilometers from the center of a bustling metropolis that is home to 1.3 million people.
Without further ado, let me now share some of the pictures that I took during the hike in the Prokop Valley with you ;)
I hope you enjoyed this little photo collection of pictures taken in the Prokop Valley as much as we enjoyed the hike. We spent some 4 hours in the valley and might have hiked approximately 20 km (12 mi). Still, however, we got to explore just a little part of the valley this time so we will definitely come back for more some other day. It´s not far from where we are staying in Prague right now and it´s a really beautiful place for some fine forest bathing and spending quality time with Mother Nature ;)

Man, that photo of the reflection is absolutely spectacular! I would frame that or have it as a wallpaper on my laptop. Looks like it was a wonderful hike. It sure does look far away from a city center, hard to believe that there are these oasis in the middle of metropoles. Nature is awesome.
Wow, thank you for such kind words :) The reflection picture was actually taken in a little flooded limestone quarry. I didn´t even know this amazing spot was in the valley too, we found it by an accident :) Glad you like the photos!

I think that valley is one of the most beautiful landscape of nature as well as river that comes from there. We have a similar canyon close to Istanbul, however it is very sharp to hike, only climbing I think.
The weather has been very hot like in summer for about one week. Staying near the river would give some cool :)

It’s very nice that you have such a heaven so close to the polis. And the fact that it’s so broad and has so many different paths and hiking trails means that you can visit the same place and yet experience different scenery every time.
