I'm looking to resurrect the steem-bbs but with a reddit UI. So far there is a Quora based UI on Reverio, wonder what is your input about going more for a forum than a chat UX?
BTW, I always been for a chat UI like Steem Messenger replace discord or telegram.
What is your target audience and use-case tho? For chat/messengers, I prefer matrix/element and session. Hive-Tube uses the Hive blockchain of course, so we can style the UI however we like. Just keep it "grandma-friendly" as I always say.
For the forum i wanted a reddit replica, targeting Reddit users. The original Steemit forum looked similar to Reddit. Back in Steemit days they had chainBB. The UI is open source and I think it wouldn't be that hard to make it look like Reddit.
This is a plugin for self-hosted FeDi Peertube, it si not a standalone and that platform is rather resource heavy unless it is a single-user instance.

Just 2GB of RAM will run it, along with a basic cpu for media transcoding, that's about it. Simple. Since Peertube server streams out the content P2P, it radically lessens the bandwidth usage too.
Good idea.
