HIVE is an interesting place. There are always things to do here.
Powering up HIVE has been bitter sweet.
There are lots of pros to having more HP. Stake weight does matter here and the more stake you have, the bigger influence you have on the chain.
Your relationship with the chain does change with the more HP you have. I never really expected that. I am happy I bought the HIVE I did. Having more HP is a big reason why my TradFi community is so successful. Having more HP is a big reason why I get so much engagement on this platform.
Voting is an incentive. Having more HP means you can you can use your vote power to influence the type of content people write about. Having more HP and upvoting comments means more people want to engage with you. HP doesn’t achieve all this by itself but it does help quite a bit if you want to do things here. I’m biased, but I believe HIVE does have a lot of use cases.
I didn’t time my HIVE buys perfectly, but I’m happy I powered up when I did. I really am happy to be here. I truly believe people who are not on the HIVE platform are missing out.
Powering up as much HIVE as I did has been a con though because I miss playing video games with the people I’m friendly with on here. I miss having long philosophical conversations with other Hivians on Discord. I just don’t have the time I used to. But I do miss you guys and many of you know who you are. I’m guessing many of you miss me too. I’m sorry so much has changed with me. But I do think me powering up was the right thing for me to do. I do think it was the right time for me to power up and for me to play a bigger role in the ecosystem.
Right now, I mostly look forward to continuing the TradFi community while also taking a step back and focusing on having fun on HIVE.
Part of me having fun will be playing Moon again. I have already started to build Large Cargos to fleet save. It took me a while but I finally cleared up all my messages. Looks like people have been benefited a lot from farming my planets while I was inactive. 😅
This isn’t a new chapter but just another day on HIVE. HIVE is an interesting place and there are always things to do here. I look forward to meeting more interesting people all over the world. I look forward to continue being a Hivian.

Now it's the time to power up. With prices so low it builds the stake quickly.. but yes having a stack can certainly increase engagement.. especially when you upvote comments.

Hi, I might be able to play Moon someday when I upgrade my computer and get a more modern PC. For now, it's impossible because I also have a lot of schoolwork.
Eventually, I'll have the opportunity to invest in Hive and accumulate a lot of HP. I'll probably also have a community like yours, and I'll follow it closely and interact in it just like you do.
Don't feel bad if people accuse you of being successful only because of your high HP; I think that's partly true, but it's not the whole story. You're a good curator and you strive to do a good job with your community. Many of us are here because of your HP, but also because your community is successful and there's a lot of interaction, and that's also thanks to your time and dedication. You own your HP and you decide what to do with it, as long as it's not harmful to Hive. My mother says we can do whatever we want with our lives, but none of our actions should harm anyone.
I have a good GPA in school, and many of my friends support me because they know that if they spend time with me, we'll all get good grades. But I know how to tell who my true friends are and who aren't. It's not wrong for some people to take advantage of me just to improve their own position. What would be wrong is using deceit and lies, because we all know who's who, and sometimes actions speak louder than words. That's what a professor who talks a lot about God told me.
I wish your community much success, and I'll always remember that I was the first to post there. 😍

It's like being rich I would guess. It doesn't solve all your problems, but it sure makes life a lot easier! Perhaps I need to make some buys while the price is low to boost my communities. I'd love to be able to make it very lucrative for smaller accounts to publish in thepub. My grilling community is more of a pet project, but there are so many different kinds of BBQ across the world. I thought I would get more posts in there.

I tried playing Moon, but honestly, I don't have a good computer or the time to dedicate to it; it requires a lot of attention. I congratulate you on your community; you're an excellent moderator. It's important that people value the work you do when writing for a community. I've written in Hive communities where they don't even bother to look at your content.
On Tradfi, I feel like I've grown a lot since I joined.

It's a little strange, but in the most difficult moments on the platform, I perceive even more the value of those who make life here, as well as everything I have achieved through my work. Strangely, I feel more motivated than before, and my commitment to continue here is very clear. I think that everything that is present also highlights what we want to achieve here at Hive, and that is something that can be enjoyed through posts, comments, and the encouragement that many of us can convey 👍

This shows that HP is valuable even now when the HIVE price is low. In a nutshell, the bigger the stake you have, the greater influence you have on the Hive Chain. Buying hive, this time is a great deal, and I am also doing it.
At the same time we see TradFi getting more attention because of Hurt. We see some communities having almost no attention even with active members that's sad :/
It would be nice to see more of these all over hive.
That has been my experience. It would be so hard to create a blog that is TradFi focused if I wasn't on HIVE. Like it would be really hard to get people to regularly write content that is TradFi themed in a normal context.

The success of the TradFi community is pretty unbelievable. My engagement, when compared to any other platform, is pretty unbelievable. I have shown my IRL friends this stuff and they think it is amazing.

Having more HP increases the influence IF it is at a WHALE level. I think this statement would be more correct.
The truth is that I don't think anyone with Dolphin or even Orca levels (as defined by hivebuzz) would be any more influential if they were a level below. No one is going to be canvassing support from them, nor will their words hold much weight.
I could be wrong, but this is my own observation.

What you are saying does not make sense to me. There is not some magic level of HP. Being a whale is literally just a made up number.
No one “listens” to me because of my HP. People are more receptive to my feedback which is my point.
The more HP you have the more receptive people are but that’s is not unlimited either.
I think the magic number for curation is somewhere between 50k HP and 200k HP. SSG Community has about 200k HP as a frame of reference.
Also, you have been here a while now. You just might have an old frame of reference.
Heh! 😜 I've got to be one of those who (having known you for a bit longer than most here) provide a "non YES-men" answer, because as you've said, huge stakeholders tend to influence the direction of discourse.
I wouldn't say all the people will "listen" because of your HP, but you're more than likely to get a huge following of bootlickers and sycophants (which is obviously true in the real world setting too).
Perhaps it all boils down to a user numbers issue. If the user size gets sufficiently large, low and mid tier "influencers" gain their own sizable followings too, just like in any mainstream social media setting.
(P.S, I don't think I'm focused very focused here, just putting together a mish mash of thoughts down in writing)

I think we agree HP plays a huge role here. Which is really the whole point of a stake weighted chain so it makes sense me powering up would have that effect.
I think where we might disagree is how big that HP needs to be to be “effective” here.
I guess to your point it really just depends on the user base.
I think it may be the opposite of what you are saying though. If we have a lot of users and more people have “a lot” of HP. Then you would need even more HP to have the same impact. So if we had a bunch of whales on chain, my impact here would be more muted.
I actually did a poll on snaps fairly recently about how much HP someone needs to be an “effective” curator.
Someone who is mostly an author and doesn’t really curate will have less of role in what people write then someone who curates “well.” In my opinion of course.

You're right to say that HP gives you influence and guarantees you many admirers; it would be strange if it didn't. But you know what's even stranger? Seeing a whale interacting and connecting. I know you have the right to your opinion and disagree, and perhaps you're right, but there's no doubt that this user, with their large HP, is doing something uncommon on Hive, something valuable. Seeing someone with that level of capital investing real time in responding and connecting is rare and greatly strengthens the ecosystem. I'm a member of their community, and it's a thriving and vibrant community thanks to their HP and their interaction. That's what Hive is all about, and that's how it should be. I wish many more whales would see how important and essential the Tradfi community can be in these times of crisis for Hive.

I started on Hive around the same time in 2022, but I drifted away due to a lack of knowledge, and I think I'm still in that same place. I've returned, and my desire is to clear away all that fog and understand what I refused to understand back then. I'll keep reading and exploring to see if I can find the key to making a click, and I'm sure that once I do, I'll stay indefinitely. I'm open to learning.
