Here is my participation for this week:🌈

I was delighted to get this mural in the streets of my hometown of Caracas, as it represents part of the national culture of my country Venezuela, about a traditional dance called "The Burriquita".


The urban artist and creator of the work Wolfgang Salazar Badsura, apart from representing the dance, also wanted to pay tribute to a Venezuelan dancer named Manuel Sanchez, which takes the same for every corner of our country for a few years, being a representative icon with his show the burriquita. I leave here the Instagram of Manuel Sanchez / burrichow (show de la burriquita) so you can see his work in publicizing the dance, its origin, for love of our beloved country, strengthening the national culture.

What is the burriquita?

The Dance of La Burriquita is folklore and is an expression of Venezuelan culture. It is said that it has influences from the "Dance of the heifers and horses", practiced since the Middle Ages in Spain and that entered our country through Cubagua, at the beginning of the colonization.


The representation of this beautiful traditional dance consists of a person who disguises herself as a woman and carries a wooden frame that imitates the figure of a "burriquita". The costume consists of a wide and colorful skirt, a white blouse and a big hat made of buds. At the beginning of the performance, the character who plays the rider dances to the beat of the music, pirouettes and imitates the sounds of the animal while riding through the town in the midst of a joyful revelry in exchange for a glass of aguardiente. Les dejo mi participación de esta semana:🌈

Me encanto conseguir este mural en las calles de mi ciudad natal de Caracas, ya que representa parte de la cultura nacional de mi país Venezuela, sobre un baile tradicional llamado “La Burriquita”.


El artista urbano y creador de la obra Wolfgang Salazar Badsura, quiso aparte de representar el baile, también homenajear a un cultor venezolano llamado Manuel Sánchez, el cual lleva el mismo por cada rincón de nuestro país desde hace unos cuantos años, siendo un icono representativo con su show la burriquita. Les dejo por acá el Instagram de Manuel Sanchez / burrichow (show de la burriquita) para que puedan ver su labor en dar a conocer el baile, su origen, por amor a nuestro amado país, fortaleciendo la cultura nacional.

¿Qué es la burriquita?

El Baile de La Burriquita es folklore y es una expresión cultura venezolana, Se dice que tiene influencias del “Baile de las vaquillas y los caballines”, practicada desde la Edad Media en España y que entró a nuestro a país por Cubagua, en los inicios de la colonización.


La representación de este hermoso baile tradicional consiste en una persona que se disfraza de mujer y se carga una armazón realizada de madera que imita la figura de una “burriquita”. El atuendo se compone de una ancha y colorida falda, una blusa blanca y un gran sombrero de cogollo. Al iniciar la representación el personaje que hace de jinete baila al compás de la música, hace piruetas e imita los sonidos del animal mientras se pasea por la localidad en medio de un alegre jolgorio a cambio de una copa de aguardiente.
