FOODlog #1286: Steamed Salmon with Doubanjiang and Porridge

in Daily Blog11 hours ago

Everyone in the shop seems to be falling sick with sore throats. With that in mind, I made a meal that used very little vegetable oil which is extremely inflammatory and harmful to gut health.

I made porridge with accompanying dishes of steamed salmon with fermented soy beans (Taucu), and an egg dish with pickled radish (cai po) cooked with butter.

It was such a comforting meal that really feeds the soul as well as the tummy! The salmon was cooked to perfection and paired so well with that delicious sauce especially when eaten with the rice porridge.

After lots of heavy food, I really do enjoy having some with dishes like these which are a popular teochew style meal.

Anyone else love teochew-style porridge? What's your favorite dishes to go with your porridge?
