I'm not the biggest soccer fan in the world at all. Soccer, football, voetbal, whatever-you-call-it, you hear the debate coming up already between the people who are one 100 % sure about how right they are in this while language is just a perception per country. There is no absolutely right in this one.
But when I had the chance to visit a nice old football stadium in the city of Tilburg(Holland) from the club Willem II, I absolutely enjoyed this location even though I wasn't here for the round-ball game at all.
Jan van Roessel was a starplayer for this club in the early 50s
So compared to other stadium and teams, the stadium of Willem II which was built in 1995 so is quite modern, is actually not that big. For instance I have been in the PSV stadium in Eindhoven a couple of times and there you have like 38.000 spots for visitors, while this stadium has room for 14.000 supporters. (A small comparison, Wembley has like 75.000 places for seating), but it doens't feel small at any second. Better said, it feel spacious but cozy and I can imagine when it is game on here, that there is enough vibe to indoctrinate an opposing team.
Nowadays the soccer stadium also has more of a commercial function with for instance that conventions can be hold in there (that is why I was there) and this sure makes sense considering that a match in here is only once every two weeks, and the rest of the stadium is not being used very much.
So while you are there for something entirely different, it is still cool to see the shirts of the old legends hanging there up against the wall which immediately gives you a bit of extra vibe with this soccer club.
Smart I would say, maybe after our convention we will all leave as supporters from this club, who knows.
In the next picture in which you see a part of the 'Kingside' seatings which is the side where the hardcore fans are usually sitting in this stadium. If I could make a generalisation, I don't expect a lot of girls to be sitting here honestly ;)
It was nice to be in this Willem II stadium actually, and the whole scenery gives a totally different vibe on where you are spending your day. But most of all it is nice to see a bit of the background of this place, and also know where in the weekends a part of the Tilburg population will flock to spending their time.
And seeing this place while it was all closed? That is even more unique. Imagine with the soccer choirs and drums singing here. Tonnn-tonn-tonnnn
well it is played with feet and it does not suck so :D
but we still call you Holandija, but the Holland is a province of The Nederland and the people and the language is called Dutch 🤷♂ (*but all of that is outside my history learnings 😄 )
hahahahah Wowwww you payed good attention then dude :D
Yeah it is true, Holland is for the two provinces and the lazy people like me find -the-ne-ther-lands to right every time but we don't want to asociate with these two provinces :D
Good thing this football stadium is in one of the other southern provinces where they understand my dialect. Ow yeah? Are you a diehard fan?
i dislocated my left knee 4 times playing football, and you saw me, it is evident that i should not be playing football :D
my father is in it for all his life, mostly in the lower leagues, from playing to couching and behind the scenes, so i think i was indoctrinated :)
This stadium Willem II is very interesting, it is a very good motivation for young people to venture into the sports world. It would be great to be able to sit there and watch a football game, even if we are not fans, just to enjoy something different in a nice place hahahahahaha. Many places like this are needed for more sports to be practiced. It looks very clean, the seats are super comfortable and well organized and the colors are great, I hope it gets the use it deserves, for the benefit of the sport. Greetings.
I think it is used a lot of times during matches and that the supporters of this club are really happy with the stadium. But you don't get a chance that often to be in an empty stadium, so that was really cool
