The royal mint are masters of milking the general public of their hard earned fiat! It blows my mind that people will spend "money"(i use that term in the loosest fashion) to buy, ummmm, well..... "money"
Today saw the mint release this pretty unique and never to be seen again set of circulating coins. Whats so cool about this set is not the fact that it marks the last set to have old Lizzy Windsor's head on them, but a little detail on the coins themselves.
The obverse of each definitive coin is embellished with a special privy mark. The 26/22 is a nod to the late Elizabeth - born 1926, died 2022.
The mint know how to churn out the slightest deviation of sets to maximise profits.... What also caught my eye on this recently released set(today: 09/12/22), is that they are only available for sale till the end of this year, just 2 weeks!! So vollectors are scrambling to buy them before they're gone!
The generic Cupro-nickel coins are unlimited, only by time, but the precious metals versions are limited to small mintage figures. Thisnis reflected in their prices, but i am tempted to pull the trigger on the silver proof version amd see of the investment pays off after the sale period ends - 31 December 2022.
