If you love football, you would know Manchester United players, I have been checking some players' numbers since they got to Manchester United. I realize that they are good with progressive ball but if you are the type that used to watch Manchester United matches you notice this is not true. Most of our players do not progress the ball forward and it is not as good as what the numbers are suggesting, their numbers are not telling all the stories because I have seen a lot of our matches. Sometimes we just have to do an eye test to know the truth, most people today are crazy about numbers.
We live in a world that often prioritizes numbers, believing that every answer we seek can be found in how good those numbers are. However, this is not always true. During my time at university, I knew a student who was an excellent crammer and another who was exceptionally intelligent. Despite the brilliant student being far more capable, the crammer finished with better grades. Everyone in our department recognized that the student with the lower grade was more knowledgeable than most, yet the grades did not reflect this reality. This obsession with numbers is a significant issue in our society. Grades and scores do not convey the full picture; sometimes, we need to look beyond the numbers to truly understand and evaluate someone's abilities or potential.
You need more
Just like I mentioned a few days ago about habit tracking, it’s important to remember that tracking your habits shouldn’t be your sole focus. Solely concentrating on tracking may not lead to the desired results. For example, consider someone who goes to the gym regularly but doesn’t follow a proper diet; they may not achieve their fitness goals. Similarly, there are students with high grades in university who struggle to defend those grades. This happens because grades alone don’t tell the whole story. Don’t get me wrong; numbers are not inherently bad, but they may not capture the complete picture.
In a world where we often focus heavily on numbers, it is essential to consider additional factors. We must never allow numbers to be the sole driving force or the only aspect we concentrate on in our business, sports, and other areas of life. For anything to which we apply a numerical value, there should be alternative perspectives to consider. Our aim is not to dismiss the insights that numbers provide but to ensure we are making well-informed decisions. While numbers should guide us, they are not the only criteria we need, and this is where some individuals miss the point.
Be ready
Numbers are very good, but it isn’t the only thing you focus on neglecting every other thing. It is very important to consider not only numbers but also some key factors that can benefit us. The same goes for tracking, when you are tracking your habit that shouldn’t be the only thing you focus on. You still have to focus on a good diet, managing your stress, and so on for you to get good results.
thanks for your time.
