Back to Blog, HiveFest Hopes & Lately InLeo

in LeoFinance5 months ago (edited)

I've not updated my blog in a while, so it's about time I put that right!

As well as being busy I've not had the inclination but hope to be back posting regularly. That's not to say I haven't been around, just not so much on the long-form side of things…

So what's been going on?

Since my last article we had the HiveFest 2024 announcement. As I'm sure you're aware by now it will be in the delightful (I'm guessing, not been yet though) city of Split, Croatia! I've been meaning to go to Croatia for a few years now and this will provide the ideal opportunity.

As for HiveFest itself, I've been to a couple so far – that being Lisbon 2017 and Amsterdam 2022 – and of course would like to go again, especially as it's back in Europe this time.

Other than that, I've been mostly active in the microblogging side of things and mainly using InLeo. There's been a fair bit happening over there (or here, depending where you're reading this) and it's going from strength to strength. Not without its challenges of course, but that's the nature of the beast and we're all part of that building process.

The latest craze on Leo (as well as LeoDex coming out) is Threadcasts. These are a live chat that accompany an event (although can be used differently as we're seeing experimented with). Initially, they accompanied the AMA, Lion's Den and other X Spaces but can be used for multiple purposes and don't necessarily need to be connected to live events.

LeoComedy) so may integrate some BookCasts etc too but that depends a bit on other users so we've got a nice mix. To start one you just have to tag # threadcast in a top-level thread and away you go!For me personally, I've started doing a few 'TravelCasts' to go hand in hand with the @leotravel project. I've also got the @leobooks project on the go (as well as

All this stuff feeds in to each other and isn't just about what you can see on the surface. Quite what it all leads to is unclear but we can try all these things out and see what happens. There is an opportunity here and we might as well be in amongst it. Nothing is ever guaranteed of course, but nothing to stop us having some fun and just maybe be part of something special.

I would urge people to use InLeo just for the microblogging aspect if nothing else. If you're using 'Twitter' then why not use this as well? Seems simple to me. And if you're not a tweeter, then by all means drop some Threads in between your blog posts and interact with some others in the process. Again, it's one part of the overall picture. And could LeoShorts (video) be on the way?

There's also Ecency Waves (and dBuzz) out there but I can't comment on that… so feel free to play around with all these tools and see what works for you!

We've headed into the 'summer' here in the UK, so I'll keep an eye out for that. It's both Independence Day in the US and General Election day in the UK today. None of those [expletives] will be getting my vote but you can do what you like (not that I'm able to anyway).

I'll be here till September by the looks of it, and hopefully make a good ol' trip out of Croatia and then we'll see. So there will be more travel posts in due course, and I'll do some more BookBabbles and other bits and pieces I'm sure.

In the meantime let's see if England can sneak their way any further in the Euros…

Have a great one!

I need to get booked up for Hivefest. Are the Leo people going to be there? I have played with Threads, but it's not ideal for my uses. I still like regular blogging.

I need to get organised too… it's very likely I'll be there but I do have to sort everything as that couple of months will fly by.

Not sure about the Leo folks, although I think Khal mentioned he'd be there so we'll see.

Yeah, you can do either (thread/blog), both or neither. The option is there for everyone as well as different platforms, apps and tools which will only grow over time.

Hive can provide the infrastructure and the individuals (and businesses etc) can choose how they want to use it or build upon.

It's good that Hive has different options to get involved.

I could be looking for people to share a room with in Split to keep the costs down. I'm wondering if there is a Discord channel where people are organising that.

Check the telegram Steve...I guess the best place for the find.

Not sure… maybe ask in the Telegram chat. I've not really researched yet but will have to have a look at options asap.

Oeee...seems like a meet again the in croatia. Also need to sort out some things, but the odds are looking good, especially with that awesome half september weather in there!

For sure, hope to see you there!
