Our adventure in Blue Lagoon, Skra, in Central Macedonia in North Greece

Good morning to everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend like me! Below I will share with you, my last ''getaway'' from the city, in a place that is like paradise on earth. Our adventures started early last Friday, when the weather was like this just before we started

June in Greece is the month with the strongest storms! It would not be the wisest to pick my motorbike and drive about 2 hours, with dark clouds over our heads. Nevertheless, we decided to take a risk and started!

our choice , was right and a few kilometers outside the city, the weather changed completely and motorcycle riding is so enjoyful! We were heading to the blue lagoon! Not that of the Holywood movie, but this one is located near the village of Skra, in the prefecture of Kilkis, in central Macedonia. This place, is a complex of three waterfalls, where in one of them, a lake is formed! The waters are rich in limestone and they cause this special color in the lake

During the route the weather had several changes, fortunately without a single drop of rain

we also met another alone traveler

The route from Thessaloniki (where I live) to the lake is about 100km and took us, close to 1 hour and 45 minutes, with two or three stops, to snap some photos!

When we arrived and in the parking lot, there was a fountain with icy water, necessary since there are several stairs that lead you to the foot of the mountain.

We were greeted by an impressive rock, adorned with green leaves of ivy and ferns, while a green path led us to the first wooden bridge and the first waterfall

The bridge was terribly slippery from the north, but it was worth crossing. The drops from our waterfall offered unique coolness

i was very lucky, as i spot a fairy and iam gonna keep her for ever

Then, with a 2-minute hike, we found the second waterfall, where the blue lake is formed!

I immediately found on the opposite side of the lake, a tied rope, on a branch of a tree! There was no way I would not use it for my dives!

Ηowever, approaching the point where the rope hung, the river at some points, overflowed and the path was not visible and some points were inaccessible. Οf course that was not enough to stop us.

...and here we are

there are rumors that I am still hanging, since the water is so cold!

The temperature of the water in the lake was close to 4 C, which made the stay in it after a few minutes, unbearable. I went out immediately (needless to say that my girl did not follow me in) and immediately tried to find the last waterfall I had heard that exists!

We followed the flow of the river again, hiking in some places, through it! So we had the opportunity for some unique shots

... expect the sound of the water, we had an omen that waterfall is close

and here is the most mpressive waterfall for me of all the previous ones

there is a cave, where sediments have formed just above it from the source that produces limestone, everything is covered by this calcium even the tree branches that were fallen there

After all these dives and photos, we had to prepare the tent, as we would be camping there all night! Camping in nature calms me and helps me find myself again!

despite my wife's initial fear of camping on the mountain, in an unorganized camping site, the fear of wildlife and insects has disappeared!

...and here is the first beer, after a full, partly tiring but unique day!
