Orebic and around

IMG_0400.jpeg

The Pelješac Peninsula is the home of the city of Orebic. This is the southernmost peninsula of Croatia, located in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The area is known for its beautiful beaches, vineyards, and olive groves. We will visit all of this and even more.

Hey Hive Family
let us travel the world again
and collect great pictures

Views from our travel

Enjoy my pictures from a few days walking around the city and the beaches. We dived a wreck close to the beach, but this will be a separate post from the clear water.

Wine

Ok, the Beerlover talks about wine.

But why not, as this are is know for wine and here we have the key characteristics of Orebić Wine

IMG_8549.jpeg

Dominant grape varieties:

Plavac Mali (red) and Pošip (white).

Red wines: Typically full-bodied, with rich flavors of dark fruits, spices, and a hint of Mediterranean herbs. They often exhibit a good balance of acidity and tannins.

White wines: Known for their crispness and refreshing character, with notes of citrus, floral aromas, and a mineral undertone.

See what I found on the way to the beach

Water

Orebić's water is like liquid sapphire. Crystal clear and inviting, it's a playground for water lovers. Imagine diving into a world of vibrant blues, where the sun dances on the surface, casting shimmering patterns on the sandy bottom.

IMG_8448.jpeg

IMG_8449.jpeg

Did you see the bar at the beach. I need to have a more detailed look to this one.

Anyway, the beaches here are a mix of sun-kissed perfection. Trstenica is your classic beach vibe – soft sand, shallow waters, and a chilled-out atmosphere. Perfect for families or anyone seeking relaxation. But if you're after something a bit more adventurous, explore the hidden coves and pebble beaches scattered along the coastline. There are a lot and you just need to drive there and stop for a swim.

IMG_8426.jpeg

We saw a lit turquoise waters lapping at your feet, the scent of pine trees in the air, and the distant sound of waves. That's Orebić. It's more than just a beach; it's a state of mind.

As you know, walking and photography is a exhausting job and with all the sun you need to be sure that you drink enough. This brings me to another topic.

IMG_8454.jpeg

Yeah, I found the entry to that bar at the beach. Means for my health I had to make sure not to dehydrate and my nice #Hive cap from #HiveFest Mexico need a rest at the table as well.

IMG_8457.jpeg

IMG_8455.jpeg

Beach

The peninsula is also home to several small towns and villages, including Orebić, which is the largest town on the peninsula.

Surfers

A bit up the road out of Orebic there is a windy area and it seems to be a surfer’s paradise. The beach Ponta Placa is calling us for a visit. I my daydream thinking I saw @roelandp at this windy waters.

IMG_8554.jpeg

Facts about Ponta Plaza

Ponta Plaza is a popular destination in Croatia, known for its scenic beauty and recreational activities. Located in the charming coastal town of Poreč, Ponta Plaza offers stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, crystal-clear waters, and a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. The area is renowned for its well-maintained beaches, a variety of restaurants, cafes, and a vibrant nightlife.

IMG_8552.jpeg

One of the standout activities at Ponta Plaza is windsurfing. Croatia's favorable wind conditions, especially in Poreč, make it an excellent spot for both beginners and experienced windsurfers. The consistent thermal winds and sheltered bays provide a perfect environment for this thrilling water sport. Several windsurfing schools and rental shops are available, offering lessons, equipment, and guided tours to help enthusiasts make the most of their windsurfing experience.

Might be a cool spot for water activity addicted people after #HiveFest this year in Croatia

IMG_8553.jpeg

This nice combination of Ponta Plaza's natural beauty and the excitement of windsurfing creates a unique and memorable vacation experience for visitors like us.

Snorkeling a wreck

Just a few steps away from our stay, we found a wreck laying in the water.

IMG_8544.jpeg

This means grabbing mask, snorkel and fins to discover this old ship.

IMG_8548.jpeg

It is a hot walk down to the water but it was worth it.

IMG_8545.jpeg

A Rocky Beach with clear water and a huge wreck to discover.
There will be more pictures whenever I download all the video from my underwater camera.

Next stop will be Korcula island

Korčula is a captivating island in the Adriatic Sea, part of Croatia's Dalmatian coast. Renowned for its rich history, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant cultural heritage, Korčula is often referred to as "Little Dubrovnik" due to its medieval architecture and scenic beauty. The island's main town, also named Korčula, is a walled city adorned with narrow cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and charming squares.

IMG_8506.jpeg

One of Korčula's most notable claims to fame is its association with the famed explorer Marco Polo, who is believed to have been born here. Visitors can explore the Marco Polo Museum and learn about his adventures. The town's Gothic and Renaissance architecture, including the stunning St. Mark's Cathedral, offers a glimpse into its storied past. My little research comes to a big questionmark about the birth of Marco Polo.

Korčula is also known for its lush vineyards and olive groves, producing excellent local wines and olive oil. The island's culinary scene is a delightful mix of fresh seafood, traditional Dalmatian dishes, and local wines, making dining a highlight of any visit.

So, stay tuned for the next travel post from @detlev

My acquaintance with this incredible country began with Orebic. Your post stirred up so many memories. My stay there was pretty adventurous, and the trip to Korchula was also included. I remember we almost missed the last boat from Korchula and were thinking about spending a night under the stars 😆

Enjoy your stay!
Cheers and !BEER 😉

We took not the last ferry, as I remember travels with exactly this issues.

Enjoy Croatia part of the world we could not gain entry when young.

@tipu curate

I remember driving the "Autoput" all the way in a Volkswagen bus down to Greece and passing by this area

Oh, this place is heaven. Everything around the place calms the mind and the beauty of nature feeds the soul. You did a great job in taking photos of the extraordinary sceneries there.

Wait, there is more to come the next days, whenever I'm not to lazy to post

Before when I heard about Croatia I thought it was a cold place, but in reality it has its warm places almost like a paradise.

!discovery 35

It has a climate similar to that of the south of France or Spain.

If you ask me, as someone who doesn't know a lot about the climate but loves travel

Does look nice there. Your photos came over well

Oh, your trip to Croatia is indeed incredible. The beach is amazing.
Is it bonzai grapes? It's lovely to see that kind of grapes.

See what I found on the way to the beach

Can you grab and eat them ? The Crystal clear water would invite anyone, to relax at the beach, even though we would not jump to the water.

Oh, you did a proper investigation and research before HiveFest! Nice move to cover the other part of the Croatian coast, and check out the alternatives for "after-HiveFest" time... 😃
Great teaser post for those who are unsure about going to Split, Hive Fest!

I am in love with all the landscapes and the beautiful blue sky that combines with those beautiful beaches, what a beautiful place. I think Trstenica would be my ideal place because I love beaches like that, not so adventurous hahaha. Greetings from Argentina! <3

Ah so pretty 🤩😍

Wow, how I love to travel, the places looks so nice to explore and I love photography which means I would have taken enough photos of the place.

I would also love to share my travel moments, will I be allowed to post in the community?
