Cough, cough... Oh my God, oh no, nonononono. I opened my eyes and almost screamed. My room was full of smoke, and it was hot. I rushed to switch off the gas, open all the windows and doors, and run out of the room. Ha! Thank God, thank you, bro. Thank God I am alive.
It was afternoon, and I was hungry. I had been busy with work, so I set out to make myself a pot of rice that I would eat with the delicious sauce that remained from Christmas day (I made the sauce myself).
So, I entered my kitchen and began the rituals. After completing the major procedures, I decided to read my favorite book while waiting for my pot to be ready.
Now wait, you might be wondering, Bro, if you were reading your favorite book, you should be excited? Yes, I was excited at the beginning. But I made one fatal mistake that no one should make when tired.
I lay on my bed in my comfy position to enjoy my read. Oh! I also told myself, You can not sleep unless you want to die, as motivation, lol.
Before I go back to my story, hear this. For some reason that no longer makes sense, I switched off my phone and had my doors and windows bolted before I began cooking. My wonderful sense, hehe, yeah, I know.
Shortly after laying down for about 10 - 15 mins (see, I stayed up for a while), I saw myself at a party. We were having fun, some drinking, laughing, and others smoking. The party was hot. Then, I heard a knock. But I could not find where it was coming from. So, I opened my eyes and woke from my dreams to the smoke scene from earlier.
I had to stay outside for a while before coming back into the room so that the smoke could clear out. Sorry, I did not take videos or pictures of the smoke scene. In all sincerity, my mind did not even think about that. I was imagining how I would have looked lying still dead on the bed from inhaling all that smoke.
The bro, Victor, who knocked on my door, did not notice what I was feeling. I was chill outside, but it was a different story inside.
After some time, I returned to my room and checked my pot of rice to see that some parts of the rice were not scorched. I thought to myself maybe God might have understood my situation. He might have known I was hungry, so he preserved some for me. Man, the thought made me smile despite the circumstances, and I ate my fill.
After I was done eating, I had to do a cleanup. As soon as I finished cleaning. I sat down at my desk and wondered what had just happened. All I could feel was gratitude to God for saving my life and some food. To thank God, I began playing a song by Victoria Orenze, a song of Thanksgiving.
As I sang, I thought of sharing this testimony. To make a post, seeing this is my gift on Boxing Day. I recognized that despite the many gifts I receive at Christmas, none is more valuable than the gift of life. As I unwrap my presents, I remember to be grateful for being alive.
So, here it is. I am alive. My nose is still itching, and I have a slight headache, but overall, I am alive. Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of life. Happy boxing day and a merry Christmas.

Better stay close to the pot if cooking. Next time read on a chair next to it.
I am glad you are alive too. A great, safe start of 2024.
