My entry for the #wednesdaywalk for Wednesdays, as inspired by @tattoodjay , was a much-needed walk after lunch. The area I was able to walk around was literally a five-minute walk from my Wednesday work spot. The area was set again in the #driftlessregion ...
The area was nestled between a few cornfields that had since been farmed. The best parts of the area are the rolling hills; next year, during the summer, I really need to return to this spot to capture the rows of corn in all of their glory.
Most of this area, years ago, was inhabited by the local native American tribes. Nearby is Decorah Peak, the site where a local tribe chief held off enemies while nearly bleeding out after a battle.
Today, the area is mostly farmland, with a speckle of urban sprawl bumping up against the nearby bluffs in the area.
Why did I need today's walk? Well, somehow I managed to order a chicken and cheddar cheese casserole special for lunch. It was yummy at the time, but the food coma kicked in pretty hard about an hour later. Not even the late afternoon coffee was helping...so I snuck out of work to take in the mid-afternoon walk. Nothing like a bit of fresh, cold air to get the senses back to working order!
There was even a bit of snow and ice left over to enjoy!
Easy enough for a much-needed stroll. Again, it's amazing what little beauties lie around the corner in this area...one never knows what you'll find when exploring new roads.
Thanks for checking out my #wednesdaywalk post. I hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday too!
Such nice views you share with us, and yes going back when the corn is fully grown and agree would be interesting to see as well
thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
