"Everyone, sleep early. We're going for a jog tomorrow morning," I told the fam on Saturday night.
The plan was to wake up at 6:00am and just go for actually just a casual walk around the neighborhood. However, it turned out that it was still quite dark at 6:00am and everyone wanted some extra time on bed, so we started off late.
Since it was already late, I thought that it would just be nice to sip hot coffee by the Corniche instead of a walk around the vicinity. I quickly prepared coffee in the hub's and my thermos, and another thermos of hot water for the kids' instant noodles. We also passed by a Filipino bakery to by some pandesal.
The Marina Breakwater
We ended up at the Marina Breakwater and for some time, basked at the morning sun. We mostly just sat on the rocks to watch the surroundings. The sea was blue and calm. It was a great idea to come here at a time like this.
Despite it being a Sunday, there were already quite a number of people that morning who were there to also enjoy the nice weather and beautiful view in this side of the city. After eating our small breakfast, the kids wandered off to the other side of the breakwater.
On this side, with Corniche at the right, there were sea gulls that flocked the area. The UAE is a pit stop to these migratory birds as they flee the cold weather in the Northern Hemisphere. I read these birds are mostly from Siberia and the Mediterranean.
The people present were treated to their expert diving to the water as they go on a feeding frenzy. Some would settle peacefully on the water, perhaps since they already got their full. While some would go near the people who would toss them any sorts of food from pieces of bread to cheeze balls!
We stayed like this for some time, just taking everything in -- the beautiful scenery, the perfect weather, and the amazing nature. Even a cat that was comfortably resting in between the rocks, lying on a blanket! How did it even get a blanket?!
The sunshine started to get hotter and we decided it was time to go home. We're just glad we took the time to come here again and enjoy the cool weather and the birds, of course! We should do these every weekend while the weather is still great.
