It has become quite a difficult task to take no notice of the ads and promotions from all the different categories offered in the market space.
That is why throughout our "jailed" and lazy pandemic phase, I've chosen to adapt to this Marketplace "distraction" and hype. After browsing through countless categories, I've managed to find a few active sections that I'm familiar with. Most of the categories I've marked 🔖 down mostly hover around the tech category.
My job was to look for solid deals that are worth taking, it's usually the deals that are being offered for much cheaper than what they actually cost. Securing such deals and then flipping them ASAP, that has been the plan for a while now. And I say it's a solid side hustle if you're someone who knows your product and category, while also knowing how to negotiate.
As many of you know, I've recently moved to a new house. Me and my family plan on staying here for at least 4 to 5 years, so we decided to "design" this place in a way so that we can make it our own for the next few years. Thus, we are now in the midst of a little revamp session.
Now even though most of the decoration has been taken care of, the only thing that feels empty is my room and its expressionless walls of white.
So, I decided to use this perfect little excuse for me to head out and look for something suitable in the online Marketplace. Something that's expressive, a meaningful piece of artwork maybe, something that holds a hint of passion.
The next day I powered up my "hunting station" and set out on a digital journey, to look for some suitable artwork, illustrations and paintings.
There are a few well known businesses that print out digital images and illustrations for a fee, and are the most common form of "artwork" you would find in someone's household. Yet, even though many of these images hold a radiant and abstract vibe, they still lack the human touch and that flawed polish.
So I kept on looking, until I stumbled upon a post from an user who was located in one of the neighboring parts of town. It was a painting they were selling, one that would easily fit into the antique category. It was the perfect piece.
Frames scratched, panel wobbly, the canvas fading
A yellowish decay develops, as it's slowly aging.
The key element of focus was a lady sitting on the roadside, selling raw coffee beans, and an unknown character at a distance, walking away.
I don't know what it was, but this old painting spoke to me, then there's also the love I have for coffee, which probably played a part as well.
Hence, I wasted no time and headed towards the address that was given. After reaching the destination I realized that it was actually a pawn shop, one that specializes in collecting and selling antique goods and chattels. This place held a mysteriously ancient vibe, it felt like I had travelled back in time by half a century or something.
As I approached the front desk and showed them their little post about the painting, from the looks on their faces I'd say they were a bit surprised. They brought the painting down from one of their walls, and mentioned that they've had this piece on display for a quite few months now, and non so far have shown any interest.
I surely was glad that I had managed to secure my first piece of the puzzle for my room and its dully vacant walls.
It was then time to take this beauty back home. Placing it on my wall, where it belongs as the first piece of the puzzle. But, as I was lifting it up, I noticed a little notch of paper peeking out from below. As curious as I am, I had to check what it was
So I put the painting down on the table and pulled on the pointy little notch. After pulling out the paper halfway I began to see some writings. When it was completely out it looked like an old wrinkly letter that was stored at the back of the painting.
A letter that says...
Greetings, to whoever is reading, I hope you are well.
This is Duante Young writing to you.
If you have this little letter of mine in your hands, then I must hope that you also have that little painting under your refuge as well. If you do have the painting, then all I must ask of you, is for your kind safeguard, and for the preservation of that painting you have, for it is the last piece of legacy we have left in this world. Whether you belong to the family tree of Young's or not, I just ask you to take care of this little family heirloom of ours. It is a piece that dates back by countless decades, centuries even; to the days of when my great grandparents were alive and were in possession of this treasured heirloom of ours.
From here on, all I ask of you is for your care and for the safekeeping of our legacy .
Thank you.
A mix of fiction and a tad bit of reality. I tried my best, even though I know that fiction surely is not my cup of tea, or coffee. But it does feel good to get out of the "comfort zone" every now and then, try out something new for once. I took my time with this one, I just had to.
There you go, Doc @simplifylife, here's my first entry for the STB prompt, a promise is a promise. Even though I'm late, I just had to, for the love of coffee.
Cheers ☕️
Finally hehe, and about time as well! 😄
Fiction mixed with a bit of reality is the best type of fiction anyway,so you’ve nailed that on your first attempt! Welcome to the #spillthebeans cult...you can not stop 😈
Better late than never eh, Doc?
I'll have to get used to it I guess, this one wasn't easy in any way. 😬😰
It's your play with structuring words for me🤍. You may be a tech kinda guy but you're really good with English and I love it. Tech ain't my thing that's why you don't see me responding to most of your tech related posts as I seem to not understand most of them🤧. Don't blame me😩.
Congratulations 🥳! Just figuring this out and I'm super happy for you. New house new beginnings and new big things.
I enjoyed reading this piece, my imagination went far as I imagined the painting to be right in front of my face. I'd love to have such painting placed in my living room staring at me every now and then. What a relaxing experience that'd be. Hehe.
Nice factual fiction. BTW, your painting really is nice
I've been trying to mix it up you know. My content and the things that I post are almost boundless, I have no categories or genres I'd say. So there's always room for almost anyone and everyone to enjoy reading and maybe relate to a lot of what I share and say.
If it's one comment, ten or even zero, I appreciate every single one of you who come by and show support; whether it be just a view, an up vote, or the words of encouragement. It truly means a lot. 🖤
Thanks Teky, it's been just over about 2 weeks now. The first week was too hectic, but we're slowly fitting in just okay.
This painting was placed in our living room before, but now I guess I'm actually going to move it to my room, because these empty walls are just too boring.
I plan on adding more paintings and images in my room, hopefully I'll be able to keep you guys updated.
The first week is always hectic, having to unpack boxes and keeping things where they should belong is big time stress that's why I hate moving.
Would love to read your updates. I love these paintings but have been unable to purchase one. I know how beautiful it looks on walls when I visit houses of people who are really into paintings.
Funny thing is that I still haven't unpacked all of my stuff, it's not necessary at the moment and that is why I am in no hurry. 😂
Maybe I'll start posting and reviewing artwork as a collector, you never know. 🤔
No pressure 😉
Hehe! You know what they say "do what you love"😌
YES MAMM. 🎆
😁
It's interesting when you can make a fraction story from one of these writing prompts. Very nice one for your first.

A new prompt is published every Sunday at 01.00 UTC, so you can be on the lookout:)
That's the beauty of it I guess, how every user has a different story to tell from just one prompt and idea. And it is in no way an easy task, it wasn't for me at least haha.
Thanks for dropping by, Milly, it truly means a lot. ☕️🖤
I'll surely keep an eye on the community and its posts.
I wanted to participate earlier, but due to the hectic journey of moving to a new house, going from point A to B countless times, I just couldn't manage the time back then.
Yeah, it's amazing to read the different interpretations of the same prompt.
See you around:)
Toodles, you take care now. 🎆
And he says he can't write fiction.....-,-

Said it once, I'll say it again, fiction is not my cup of tea. 😵
welcome to the writing Spill the Beans writing prompt. Nice first entry. 👍
Thanks Leaky, I'm glad you guys liked this little "newbish" write-up of mine.
I plan on posting more, hopefully I'll improve my fictional aspect of composing and formatting as I continue writing.
