Hello everyone hive friends, the whole house smells of freshly brewed coffee, an aroma that calls all the women in my house to gather in the kitchen quickly before it gets cold. This is my first time writing in this community and I want to tell you a little bit about the history of coffee in our family.
The coffee hour in my house is a sacred moment, almost like a ritual and more for the matriarch of the family my beautiful grandmother, the older people when they reach a certain age have the characteristic to tell stories many times, and every time they tell them it is as if you hear them for the first time, you laugh you are surprised, you find out things you already knew hahaha and that is the coffee hour for us, a time to talk and tell stories and anecdotes of the day to day.
This time is repeated several times a day actually, the morning is the most important, and the afternoon is when we sit down to talk. My grandmother stares at her coffee cup and begins to "tell the story" that since she was a little girl she has always drunk coffee, in her childhood she lived in the countryside in a cold area and her father was an excellent farmer, he himself grew almost all the food they consumed, so he knew a lot about agriculture and how to preserve the grains that had to be kept. One of his crops was coffee, so my grandmother tells us that since she was a child she and her sisters used to eat the beans that the plant produced and savor the fruit of the coffee which was "a red seed" as she says.
With a story like that we practically have coffee running through our veins instead of blood, just like her, my mom and I are also coffee lovers, a day without drinking coffee is as if it made no sense hahaha I know you can understand that feeling of not drinking coffee one morning.
We drink coffee very black in the morning and a little softer during the day, about four times a day which is quite a lot I know, my grandma sometimes comes to the kitchen quietly and has one or two more cups.
She always says that she never gets sick of anything (which is not so true) and that she has never had a headache in her life and that coffee keeps her healthy from everything hahaha she is an excellent coffee taster and if the coffee is over roasted or of low quality she can tell just by smelling it.
Like her, my mother also drank coffee since she was a child and by inheritance I also had my little giraffe cup to drink coffee with milk since I was about seven years old. It is a tradition that cannot be broken in this family and whenever we get together as soon as they walk in the door they ask, "Have you made the coffee yet?
I hope you liked my story of what coffee is like in my family and I think I suspect that almost every family in this community has a similar story.
