Stand and Fight... Java Monsters 8

"Finding out just how Arts had layed waste to so many Monsters was going to have to wait. Galen's voice rang out in alarm on the radio as shots rang out. He was now under attack..."

Running & Gunning

As we both did when we heard the assault on Arts, Our Gatekeeper Mountain Bike Warrior (@dandays),

Cameron (@scubahead), Arts, and I ran, rode this time, full speed across the open field. Up hill into the forest, Weapons in hand, ready to do battle with whatever was attacking our guardian angel.

The Aussie

The one who had our six this whole time, the one who had saved our lives several times this very day. But now there were three of us, speeding towards The Aussies (@galenkp) last known high ground position. We rode full speed on ATVs that Arts had stashed nearby.

It was nearly dark now. The smoke from the battle had cleared, but the flash of explosions lit the hilltop.
When we broke thru the tree line into the battle. We were amazed at what we saw. The Aussie was Running and Gunning from one defensive position to another. Never giving the Java Monsters a stationary target. We returned the life saving that we had received earlier. The three of us took the 30 or so Javas by surprise. Cutting thru them like a spoon thru hot coffee.

When the last Monster had fallen, The Aussie fell to the ground also. Had He taken a fatal round? A mortal injury? We rushed to his side to see a large gash in his leg. He had kept fighting even thru the massive blood loss. We quickly applied a tourniquet to slow the bleeding. The cut had not reached his femoral artery or he would have expired during the battle. But he would have died standing and fighting. He has no quit in him. We had to stop the bleeding. As Galen had lost so much blood already. He had several other deep puncture wounds and cuts from the Javas tooth and claw attacks. How did this man remain standing to fight? Arts and Cameron heated up a large survival knife red hot and used the flat side to cauterize the gash in his leg.

They field dressed the others. While I stood guard for any movement.

Several Java Monsters that were already down had movement and were quickly double tapped by me. We could not risk them communicating with the others. We were unsure if they used telepathic or high range sonic sound to communicate. Sounds that we could not hear. Like a dog whistle. Maybe it was both?

Arts sent an encrypted message to the mountaintop compound of our location and data device securement. The reply was extraction at first light. The four of us were exhausted, tattered and torn. But we were alive. We kept the campfire small, set up Galens perimeter alarms. As the night deepened and darkened. Along with it all the normal sounds returned. The sounds of the night were welcomed. They were soothing to our ears, ears still ringing from the battle we had just survived. But these sounds meant that no Java Monsters were nearby.

We sat quietly for a good long while. Then the silence was broken by Cameron. He quietly asked...

"Mountain Biker, can you tell us how you layed waste to hundreds of these beasts single handed? Did you have air support? You are a warrior my friend, and I, myself am honored to meet you..."

There was another long silence that quickly became uncomfortable as our Gatekeeper never looked away from the fire. Several minutes passed when He finally spoke. His reply was...

No other words were spoken for nearly an hour as we sipped on some black coffee that Cam had made over the fire earlier.

Then the silence was broken by our Aussie. His voice was a little shaky. He had been unconscious since we patched him up earlier. Lucky to be alive after that kind of blood loss. He thanked us for returning the favor of having his six. And asked us why we were so quiet, asked if there were Javas about?

We broke out into a muffled laughter when I said...

"Yes, hundreds of them, and we killed em all..."

The Gate Keeper Speaks

When we gathered ourselves back to sanity from the sudden but calming and healing laughter. Arts went on to tell us how He had modified the military EMP device to a high frequency that seemed to paralyze and disorient the Monsters giving him plenty of time to lay waste and double tap them all.

We took turns sleeping, as we let our Aussie sleep thru the night to regain his strength. And awaited our daybreak extraction to the military mountain top caves compound.

Hello @krazzytrukker, I admire your creativity here😍 😆
I wonder what the authors' feelings are about their characters. I bet they are imagining the scenarios and eagerly wishing they could get into play.
Would be awesome to have a director develop this series with all the characters in live action.
I'd be in charge of crowd-control so I could enjoy the coffee 🤣

I was thinking of going into further detail about the Java Monsters when and if the daylight extraction takes place. Maybe having our heroes witness a military autopsy of one of them to see what exactly these creatures are... Hell, I do not even know yet. Lmao

Sounds like you've got this one covered. I like it 🤣

Would I say it if I wasn't warming my hands around the fire? We'll never know..

I'm in 3 books right now and it's possible I was more entertained with your story but I don't want anyone tuned in to think it's because I have a starring role because that's not it so I'm not gonna say anything.

Thanks Bro.

Glad you did not say that...

Wink wink, nudge nudge...

Juss read your comment to @pooky-jax it really made my day. Now let's hope those pesky Java fuhggers do not mess up our daylight extraction. I want to see this mountain top compound you been guarding. And meet the one known only as Pura...

It is a...

I'm only me without her. But together we're intoxicating.

Say hello to Pooky for me.

That was a good read.

In the beginning I seriously thought it was a dream journal then I had to smack my forehead for my ignorance.

Awesome story again.
