Today was a tough one. Back in school, I had a lot of pressure, and meetings were also very stressful, and to top it all, I fell sick. I returned from my place of Worship with the desire for sleepful repose. But the moment I entered my compound I was welcomed by a sight that took all my remaining energy away from me. Snack wrappings were all over the compound, although the compound had been cleaned this morning before going to school.
That is not the way it was supposed to be. As it is common to find that the compound was littered then, how did it get to be cleaned only to find itself littered again? I was so exhausted and almost literally ‘wiped out’ as I stood there surveying the scene. But I reckoned if I didn’t tidy it up tonight, I wouldn't tidy it up tomorrow morning: there’ll be simply no time: school and so much else take up one’s hands. I had no option other than to embark on the cleaning at the time when I saw her.
With what little strength I could muster I picked up my waste bag to start picking up the wrappers. It was not easy to do especially since I was suffering from fatigue and was not well most of the time. Maintaining cleanliness in my surroundings is paramount in whatever I do or where I find myself. And by the time I realized it, I felt like I had succeeded in something I was trying to do. Still, I’ve done something good: for my community and myself.
I also took a video to document the cleanup to share the result of the activity. Civilization always benefits from all the Clean Planet efforts irrespective of how Herculean the task is, whether big or small. Special Greetings to
