How to Make a Layer Cake Roll

Today, I will share a recipe on how to make a very delicious and interesting layer cake roll, a layer cake roll made of tapioca flour and several other ingredients. Well, to make a layer cake with an attractive color, the ingredients you have to prepare are tapioca flour, wheat flour, food coloring with the color you want, sugar, salt, thick coconut milk and the last one is pandan leaves. After you have prepared all the ingredients, now we will start the first stage.

The first stage, which you have to prepare is a frying pan and pour 450 ml of coconut milk into the pan, then add half a spoon of salt and a pandan leaf. Then turn on medium heat and cook the coconut milk while stirring constantly, the coconut milk really boils. After cooking and boiling, let the coconut milk cool.

The second stage, after you have cooked the coconut milk until it boils, now prepare 1 place and pour 75 grams of tapioca flour or the equivalent of 6 tablespoons, then 75 grams of flour or the equivalent of 6 tablespoons and finally 110 grams of sugar or the equivalent of 7.5 tablespoon. Then stir until the sugar and flour are evenly mixed.

The third stage, after the flour and sugar are evenly mixed, now add the coconut milk that has been cooked and you have cooled it, add the coconut milk gradually while stirring constantly.

The fourth stage, after the dough has been mixed evenly, prepare 2 bowls and divide the dough into 2 doughs. Then first strain the mixture into the bowl that you have prepared. I only used 2 colors, if you want more, you can divide the dough into 3 different doughs. Sieve beforehand so that there are no lumps of flour.

The fifth stage, after you have filtered the dough into 2 different bowls, now add a little food coloring to your liking. I used red and brown for my layer cake. If you have put a little dye, don't forget to stir the dough until it turns into the color you put.

The sixth stage, after you have prepared the dough with the color you want, now prepare a baking sheet and apply cooking oil all over the pan so that the dough will not stick when removed. While you are greasing the pan with oil, preheat the steamer.

The seventh stage, after you have prepared the pan and spread the oil all over the pan, now pour the first batter into the pan slowly. Then flatten the dough all over the pan, then place the pan in the steam that you have heated. Steam the first dough for about 15 minutes and cover. Don't forget to provide a clean cloth base for the steamer cover.

The eighth stage, after the first dough has been steamed for 15 minutes, now pour the second mixture and make it like the first dough. Steam the second dough for about 20 to 25 minutes and cover the same as the first dough.

The ninth stage, after the two doughs have been steamed, leave the dough in the pan until warm. After the dough is warm, prepare a plastic mat or clean cloth, then place the dough on a clean plastic sheet. Then roll the dough slowly using clean plastic or rolling mats as I did.

The tenth stage, after you have successfully rolled the layer cake, now all you have to do is put the layer cake in the refrigerator and wait for about 30 minutes so that the layer is more perfectly glued. If you don't want the rolls to be refrigerated, you can wait for the rolls to cool completely.

The last stage, after you have left the dough for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Now prepare a sharp knife, then base the knife using plastic, you can see the photo above for more clarity. Why do you need a plastic base on a knife? So that the layer cake rolls do not stick when cut. Cut the layer cake rolls to the size you want.

And the layer cake roll is finished and can be enjoyed with your family and friends. This cake is often made for family events in Aceh or other areas.
