Gardening Season 2022 - Mid June check in

in HiveGarden2 months ago

Hello everyone, welcome to another garden post! It's already mid June which is kind of crazy, I feel like time went by so fast but the good news are - gardening season is taking a full swing and things are coming along nicely.

Garden overview

Let's start today's tour with two of my favorite trees we have - fig tree in front of our house (I love the shape of the leaves of this trees so much) and the huge hazelnut tree in the back, towards the garden area. Seems like we're going to have more hazelnuts this season compared to the last one which is exciting.

Pear and apples grew bigger since the last garden update! These trees are still young so we didn't get a lot of ripe fruit we could eat - there was only one apple that made it to the stage of getting red and somewhat ripe. I think this year will be better but we'll see... I'll definitely keep you updated.

Can you tell that blackberries are getting a little bit of a color? Also grapes are doing so well even though they are all still green but it seems like we're going to have plenty to eat this season.

Tomatoes are also looking really good so far! They are in different stages of growth - from the ones that will be ready to eat soon to some that are still in flower stage.

I was lucky enough to capture this cucumber before it was harvested, we already found few that ended up in a salad. Potatoes are the same as the last time, I would say, we also did a few small harvests for lunch these days, they taste so good!

Here we have peas that failed completely in couple of our gardening seasons so I don't have a lot of expectations but maybe I will be surprised this year, who knows... On the other hand, onions are soon to be harvested and I find it fun to pull them out of the ground and collect them all so I am looking forward to this harvest!

Not that exciting but since I already took these photo I thought I might share them - it's just some parsley and carrots.

I don't know if you can tell by these photos but zucchini is absolutely massive! The leaves are huge and I also found one massive zucchini but they are usually normal in size and we can find some every day now. We also share some with our neighbors since there's no way we can use them all before they overgrow.

Finally, we have the newest additions in our garden that we added this year - blueberries and chokeberries. Blueberries are so small but at least they have some baby leaves and they give signs of growth. We'll probably have to wait a couple of season before they give us any fruits but that's fine. Chokeberry is growing way better and faster but it was also a lot bigger when we got it, compared to blueberries. We got two of each just to see if they will adapt in our garden since we never grew these before and we might get more in the future.

I see the supervisor was on the job.... Everything looks so good! In a month or so, I hope mine will start to look good too!

Oh yes, my supervisor's are doing a poor job on hot days but I don't blame them.
