I recently had the chance to go through the entirety of X4, and was really surprised to see how, even though I remembered it not being terribly hard, it still was pretty fairly balanced when completing the entire game with X WITHOUT ARMOR OR UPGRADES. Although the final boss took me one entire hour and 40 minutes...but that story will be when I get to talk about the entire game.

But yeah, I would recommend you to check out MMX2 as it is quite fun, and holds up a lot if the only MMX game you have played so far is X4 on the PS1- as if you loved what X4 did in platforming, then X1 and X2 have even more of it.

X3 is also okay if you know what things to do and not do in the game...but that's a story I'll get to sooner or later.
