Once in the moonlight, I long for knitting, crocheting or sewing. It was time. I felt like knitting a scarf and a hat. I was debating if to knit or crochet. I preferred the latter, but then I found a magazine with a beautiful pattern and my choice was sealed.
I had a beautiful yarn from a year ago, in yellow colour. I like a good mix of acrylic, wool and viscose. It feels semi-natural, even if it is 20%. It kinda matched the sample on the model too. And the format is different to the traditional scarfs.
I did cast on multiple times before I got it right. Oops! But then it took off in the right direction. The pattern was simple yet playful. It looked just like the image in the magazine.
The 3stT I worked by rearranging the loops before knitting as usual which I found easier than it was suggested in the magazine. There they applied knitting on the needle without lifting any stitches off. It wasn't easy and left big loops when lifting off the needle.
It took a couple of weeks to finish the three repetitions of the pattern. However, it looked more like diagonal rows than a trellis in the end. Still, I enjoy the pattern and won't complain!
One thing I hate the most about knitting or crocheting is sewing seams together. It always looks so easy when someone else does it.
I think I have done a decent job here. It feels seamless on the touch and eye. A clean finish!
Now there was only one thing left to do - try it on! Otherwise, it was complete. What a pride!
It looks and feels quality, I quite like to hold it knowing I made it myself. There is nothing better than the feeling of accomplishment.
My modelling is not professional, but I could easily appear in the magazine, ha!
Couple of things to note or my critique:
- I should have used a different number of needles for the pattern, which would stick more out.
- I should have done a tighter casting off. But it works looser too.
- With a long neck, I could have benefitted from four pattern repetitions to achieve the same effect.
- I needed more stitches as there is more room around the model's neck.
I am leaving it as it is for now. Next stop - a hat! I am gonna use the same pattern, I am hooked!
I think I still have time before it gets colder...
Many things I have crocheted have come from me saying “I feel like making…” 😊
I love this scarf pattern. The yarn and it’s color looks amazing. It’s good that you make notes about your projects in order to perfect them the next time.
I think you did a really nice work on this even without adding more stitches.
😂😂😂 I know what you mean. Sewing seams and ends is not my favorite part for sure.
Is this your first time posting here?
Awww, you are too nice! thank you
Yes, it is my first post rather than a comment in this community 😊 Took me a while to get a moonlight!
You’re welcome. 😉
Well I’m sure you may have seen this info already but we like making sure all who posts here receives it.
Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.
On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.
We encourage our members to share about their needlework life with us. We love hearing stories and what types of things inspired your projects. We challenge you to put some feeling and emotion into your publications and help us get to know the needler behind the fabric.
Feel free to share photos of your work but it’s optional if you choose to share the steps with us (we do require you share the step process in at least one of your posts for validation purposes as you have already done here). If you just want to needle and share about that time we’d love to hear about it. 😊

Cool! What a creative hand!
Thanks!
This look so beautiful
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Very nicely done. And the modelling is good too 😎 Too late for "before it gets colder" here. We had a hard freeze yesterday.
Oh no! We had +17 C for a couple of days now... which won't last... but still treating it as "I have time." 😅
Thats a really nice pattern, and a beautiful colour, and yes knowing you made it is the best feeling:)
Matching hat with the same wool?
Awww, thanks!
Absolutely! And if I still have yarn left, maybe a pair of gloves too?! 😃
Yess!!😍
...or socks?
This looks very good. What a great skill to have. My sister knits and she's made me socks and a hat in the past :)
Thanks!
Socks are hard to knit, I have done a couple in my teen's age... not something I would want to do again. So well done to your sister!
It is very nice. Those textures and figures are achieved with the sticks. I haven't read a knitting magazine yet, I hope to do it soon. Best regards.
Where did you disappear to?.. ☘️
