Blowing Off Steam After Two Months Being A Hermit 📷 Picture A Day

This might seem trivial to most looking at this scenery of the sky, with the trees and a bit of a zinc roof, but this was a much needed outing after two months being a "hermit". I had to finish an important task, with a short deadline. I even had to decline family and social outings. It was definitely drastic for me, because knowing me I'm in the outdoors a lot 😅.

So, after I had finished my project and was asked for a one night's - two days - stay at a place not far from the city, I grabbed it with both hands. It was a much needed "back to basics" trip, with resting in a hammock and stretcher and sleeping in a tent. There was also no water from a tap, so bathing had to occur in the creek and the washing of the dishes had to be done with fetched water.

To some it may seem like a lot or not appear relaxing at all, but to me it was an energizing few days. The temperature of the creek water was just right, not too cold in the evening and cold enough to cool off in the morning and afternoon. We were also spared rainy weather, so the place didn't overflow and some in our party were even able to sleep under the stars.

Definitely want to go back for a two night's stay and to catch up with family and friends, especially with the long (summer) vacation just starting in Suriname. How are you spending your vacation or those who already had summer trips, how did you devote those days? Let me know in the comments below 🤓.

Chasse into the backstage! 💃

Looks like you had some great rejuvenation time relaxing by the creek.

Hoping to have some more relax time here in Japan as well. Maybe one of the upcoming weekends.

Hope you guys had the much the needed relaxation.

The "summer" / school holiday here has just started and will last until the start of October, so families and friends will go to the outdoors more often. Those that can still afford getaways though.

Yeah we are back at work now. The new school year is back in full swing

Oh you lucky girl!

I'm IN! It sounds like the perfect place to relax and get back to basics and after having 5.5 months indoors at a new braindraining job, It's somewhere where I need to go, however I am now having my first outing too and I'm in my family home in the countryside (population 4300-ish) for my dad's 87th birthday next week.

So I just got here last night and will be spending my days walking his dog through the back paddock, cleaning out more cupboards to find more old slides and photos that mum stuffed in there, taking some photos myself and spending the nights looking at those old photos with dad and recording his stories on my phone.

I am going to fit in a day of opshopping (there's only 2 small ones here) and a walk down the river with my new camera and for the first time in far FAR TOO LONG, post on peakd!

I'm so happy that you were able to finally get out and live life after hermiting for so long and I hope that the final results of your project are going to be a total success!!!

Oh happy birthday to your dad! I suppose he's already had his party. Beautiful age by the way.

Wow, that's indeed a long time, but I'm looking forward to your posts about your trip to the countryside 😊.

Hey hon, so sorry for the delayed response!

I've been busy but am making much more of an effort to be here cause I miss everyone so much!

Dad's birthday, as always was pretty quiet, but he's actually housebound- by choice and to some extent because he's so frail anyway, but my brother and I did manage to talk him into atleast going out for dinner, something he hasn't done for months. The only time he leaves the house is once a month for his doctors visit and then straight home again, so it was pretty significant to actually get him out for dinner.

So although I took Spikey for a walk down through the back paddock 3 times a day, I spent the rest of the time- the days cleaning out a few of mum's cupboards and nights sorting through old OLD photos on my computer to put on a SD card for a digital photo and putting them in a album so it was a good visit. And LOTS of photos too!

Stuff in those cupboards that I didn't even know existed!

It was like finding treasure!

And how are you going???

Hey... No apologies needed, because we all have those moments we need to disconnect and have more pressing matters offline. Same with me and now I have a little more time (I hope) again for Hive.

I have done some clearing out stuff we haven't used and/or forgotten about so know what you mean 😅. It gets even better knowing we found those items new homes and that others can find a way to use those.

With us it's going great and in Suriname it's the (summer) vacation, so those who can still afford it will try to go outdoors with their families. I haven't any set plans, but definitely need that break.

😃That scenery is beautiful. Happy you got that time to relax.
Well-deserved after 2 months of hard work.

Thank you and I was indeed in awe that I didn't even take the time to take more pictures 😅. I only had taken this one, to show someone who's in a colder climate at the moment 😅.

Well, it’s good that you have at least one. Lol😃
