Kaphrao Kradong (กะเพรากระด้งบ้านฉัน)

Hive foodies! Kev and I just went to visit this cool little joint in Chiang Mai, Kaphrao Kradong (กะเพรากระด้งบ้านฉัน), - a Pad Ka Prao restaurant (I love this kind of place where it features only a dish or two). It's definitely not a tourist trap, because only the locals seem to know about it.

Here's the deal - this place is all about Pad Ka Prao. That's the only dish they serve, and they do it damn well. It's a spicy stir-fry of minced/pieced meat, holy basil, chili, garlic, and soy sauce. And the best part? It's served on a bed of rice and topped with a fried egg. Yes, please!

Now, the menu is really cool. You can choose from four sizes - S, M, L, and XL. And the larger the size, the bigger the tray it's served on. And get this - they even use traditional Thai-style hand-woven trays with banana leaf as food containers. Real fancy!

But wait, there's more! You can also choose your level of spiciness, from mild to "holy crap, my mouth is on fire!" And if you're a rice lover, you'll love the "top up" station where you can grab as much rice as you want. Can you say "carb overload?"

We went for the L size, and man, it was a lot of food. Kevin said he wants to try the XL next time. - Talk about a challenge, if you can finish the XL in under 30 minutes, your meal is free!

Overall, we had a blast at Kaphrao Kradong (กะเพรากระด้งบ้านฉัน). The food was amazing, the portions were huge, and the vibe was chill. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves a good Pad Ka Prao with a unique set up and something super duper local Thai.
