Nobody Promised That Life Would be EASY!

Whereas I am quite willing to admit that I do my fair share of moaning and groaning about things gone wrong, I can't believe how many people in this world do a lot of moaning and groaning because something "isn't easy."

Maybe I'm just a product of my peculiar upbringing, but one thing my parents never told me was that life would be — in any way — easy, and they put a lot of effort into warning me about the fact that there is no so-called "free lunch," even if you're promised one!

There's a big difference between complaining about something not turning out even though you sincerely busted your butt to make it work, and complaining about something not turning out because you didn't put any effort into it.

Sadly, it might just be the state of our modern world that a lot of people feel entitled to success, simply because they are upright and breathing on their own.

One of the things I have always disliked bout the idea that "everyone should get a prize" isn't so much that I begrudge people a little kindness, but that it makes a mockery of sorts of those who really do strive for excellence. Why bother, if you're going to get a benefit, regardless?

Maybe that sounds a bit mercenary, but I guess I am a bit lazy, in the sense that I do very little in life simply "for the sake of doing it."

The area in which I catch the most flak about it is usually my art, which I definitely do strive to sell and make a buck or two on... regardless of the background chorus mumbling that I am selling out by doing so.

Don't get me wrong, it would definitely be nice if life were a little easier... for a lot of people — particularly here in the US of A — there is a lot of hopelessness, and I'll be the first to admit that it's no fun to always be trying to pay today's bills with the cash you're hoping will come in tomorrow because that's how close you are to falling off a cliff.

In truth, I'm probably not very "good at life" because I have been living in that state pretty much my entire adult life.

But nowhere along the line did I have any expectation that it was going to be easy.

So there was a Presidential election here in the US today, and it would seem that we are going to have another Donald Trump Presidency. I have no really comment to that other than "it'll be interesting to see what happens."

I've long pondered the whole "Make America Great Again" slogan, mostly wanting to ask "Compared to WHAT? Compared to WHEN?" The word again suggests to me going back to something that has already been, and I was never a big fan of going backwards, but I will bite my tongue and just be the observer.

Of course, it seems pretty well established that the US President doesn't really run the country, and both major parties are pretty much slightly different flavors of the same thing.

Not going to lose sleep over it, regardless. I chose not to get caught up in election frenzy because Mrs. Denmarkguy and I have an event we are attending this weekend, and prepping for that seemed more important.

Life will still go on tomorrow!

Oh my dear friend, even a well known defensive pessimist and cynic like me is gonna be able to inject you a great dose of encouragement, optimism and positivity for the days ahead.

Has it not occurred to you to think that the slogan "Make America Great Again" could also mean that finally there is someone who actually is aware that America is not and has not been as great as they believed and will have to do something to make it so?

So there you have it bro. You can continue being an observer, but I hope that after this reflection you will have no need to bite your tongue anymore.

Life isn't fair but we will strive to pull through
