HiveBloPoMo Nears the End — A Celebration of Spring, at Last!

in Silver Bloggers2 years ago

We're getting down to the wire on the HiveBloPoMo Challenge, and as the end draws close I find myself remembering why it is I don't generally participate in these challenges:

Apple blossoms, finally!

Invariably, working to some schedule — and especially one that is centered around UTC rather than my own local U S West Coast time — fits in extremely poorly with my life... and then I inevitably end up having to "shitpost" because I'm up against a deadline at a point during my day when I feel absolutely not creative at all!

As is the case in this moment where I have about 35 minutes before the "official" clock runs out for another day.. we're at day 27, and I'm really busy doing all sorts of other things that have nothing to do with writing blog posts on Hive!

Proof, once again, that I am just not a very disciplined person...

One of the few tulips the local deer missed...

And so, this will basically be a very short and sweet ”celebration of spring” type post, because spring has finally arrived after a really long and dark and rainy and cold winter, and we even had a few brief moments of sunshine so I could go outside to take pictures of a couple of things that might be worthy of inclusion in this post.

Yes, spring is late this year.

Those tiny white daisies that grow on every lawn in the world... a sign of spring!

I know this not just because I sense it intuitively, but because my first photos of apple blossoms from our garden last year were taken during the first week of April and this year my first photos of apple blossoms were taken on the 28th of April.

That's three weeks off...

More apple blossoms!
Those tiny daisies are very pretty... when you get REALLY close!

Meanwhile it's still pretty cold, and the snow keeps falling up in the mountains which is unusual even for this part of the world. The weather station at the main Interstate highway pass going east over the Cascade Mountains keeps pretty accurate records of snowfall and the normal for the entire month of April is about 23 inches of snow and this year — with three days to go and snow in the forecast — the total this April so far is about 62 inches.

Most places don't even get 62 inches of snow in an entire year!

Anyway, this is all I have time for right now, so I hope you enjoy the pictures and I hope I'll be back with a better post when I have a little more time and inspiration!

But damn it, I'm really close to finishing this challenge finally so I don't want to miss out….

Thanks for reading and have a great remainder of your week!

beautiful flowers and yes, the weather is very weird in these times. I have 11 flowerbeds cleaned out and ready to plant already, and normally, I'd just be seeing the ground thawing enough to think about starting outside. I have tulips in full flower and normally I'd just be seeing a little foliage coming up. Yup, it is bizarre...

For not having had time to make a post, you got a pretty nice one. Here we have only one rainy and one dry season. Right now the rains are starting and nature is grateful for it.

I also want the challenge to reach the end. As the end approaches, I think I will fail one day. But it can't be, there are only 3 days left;)
Cheers!

Here in my beck of the woods, it looks like we'll dodge drought conditions due to snow pack levels and precipitation over the winter, but further south it looks like another dire season. The late start to planting is no surprise. There was frost on the windshield when I left game night last night, and cold nights are the reason spring planting must always wait until later over here.
