The Costa Blanca is home to many lovely, cosy coves, Cala de la Fustera being one of my favourites. Wintertime is peaceful and quiet, but warm enough for some brave souls to take a dip in the ocean.
Since 1993, the Foundation for Environmental Education has given the beach here a Blue Flag. I introduced a few coves before with this certification, which attests to the excellent water quality, accessibility, and cleaning services offered.
The sediments brought here from the ravine, along with the marine sand carried by currents, are the source of the sand. Although it is not the finest, I enjoyed walking on it between the turquoise sea and the layers of seagrass.
From my photos here, you can see the dark leaves of these marine plants carried to the seashore by waves. They shield the beach from erosion by stopping the currents from sweeping the sand away during storms. They also indicate the high quality of water near the coast.
These plants, the Posidonia Oceanica, were in danger in many areas of the Mediterranean. They have been threatened by activities such as trawl fishing, recreational boat anchorage and harbour construction. While in this location, the plants are in relatively good condition.
According to the information board, the seagrass here is only cleaned during the warmer months when there are more people sunbathing on the beach.
Posidonia's antibacterial and antifungal compounds cause slow decomposition, and its disinfectant properties have been used in medicine to whet the appetite, as an astringent, and against respiratory illnesses... It was also traditionally used by locals to pack stuff, as padding, fertiliser, or animal food, and so on.
Okay, before I get too excited about the seagrass here, I want to recommend the Mandala beach bar next to it. :) It serves delicious food and drinks, and opens till 6pm in this season. I loved the seafood pasta and other refreshments ordered there.

as we say in Australia " travelling is the thing that broadens our minds"
you are wise there in Australia
Out-of-season looks lovely, but in the season probably a lot of people here. Enjoy your trip
I guess so, seeing summer photos of the place filled with sunbathers.
:) Realmente encantadora.
