How To Overcome Your Fear

The story is told of a man with an extraordinary fear of thunder who consult a psychiatrist about it. "You suffer from brontophobia," says the psychiatrist. "It really is crazy to be afraid of thunder at your age. Think about it as the drums in the symphony of life.  "But what if it does not help?" ask the man. "Then you have to do as I do”. If you hear thunder, put cotton wool in your ears, creep under your bed and sing your favorite song as loud as you can until the thunder stops. "

Most people's fears are not based on facts, but on feelings. Fear is unrealistic expectations that seem realistic. You must look further if your irrational feelings and expectations are discovered. For example, if you grew up in poverty, you may be afraid to be generous. If someone leave you, you may be afraid to trust people, or you may cling to people and try to control them. If you have been abused, you may fear emotional and physical intimacy. If you do not feel beautiful or intelligent, or do not come from a high-class family, you may be afraid to mix with or talk to people, fearing that they may look down on you.

James Thurber, the American humorist, wrote: "Everybody must try to find out before they die, what did they ran away from and where and why." King David not only established the source of his fears but also the source of his self-esteem and security: "I praise You because You made me so wonderful father God”. “Your works are wonderful”. When you know that you have God's approval, your fears begin to die and that is what is the most important in Life.
