Yesterday I was in Phoenix and was going to drive to Southern California and I wanted to take a picture of the Bentley in front of a desert area with a lot of really nice suguaro cactus but I couldn't find a good spot.
I ended up having to park in front of one in a residential area.
Not the greatest picture but the best I could do at that time.
After that I headed West on I-10 and ultimately saw a dust storm up ahead. I was hoping I would get past it before it hit hard.
It was way worse than what you see in this picture. I was going 60 and then BOOM! Zero visibility and instantly I had no clue if I was going to slam into the back of a semi. I slammed on my breaks and my phone flew onto the car floor at my feet.
I got over to the shoulder and the dust was so thick it was like a river running across my windshield.
I started going again to try to get out of the storm. At one point a semi just stopped right in the fast lane.
Once I thought I was out of the woods suddenly it started raining extremely hard and I started getting warnings for flash floods.
Have you guys ever ended up in these insane dust storms?
Dang, that’s pretty severe. Good thing you made it out safely!
It was intense and I didn't know if all that dust was going to cause the engine to quit. It is crazy that much dust could be suspended in the air
Hopefully no damage done to the Bentley?
There are no such dust storms in my country (in Hungary). I have not even seen such a thing so far. It looks like a huge mist, or a huge fog.
These Haboobs are insane here. They roll in and consume everything
Wow, that's totally scary. I drove in a thunderstorm when I lived in Kansas City which I considered the worst but this is far worst.
Those thunderstorms can be really intense. Another really bad storm I drove in was in Dallas. No one could see and everyone just started pulling over and stopping under over passes.
Yep, you see a sand storm coming, you get off the road, well off, and wait, because blam... no visibility.
Hope your Bently is ok.
Yeah, I think the car is ok but when the dust storm was the worst I felt like it was coming in the cabin and I was breathing it in
Yay! 🤗
